Solstice Crop Update

The longest daylight hours approach and the garden is almost full. Here is a list of the current and upcoming harvests.

For the rest of June:
  • Lettuce; Mascara and Antares Red Oakleaf varieties, Dark Green Romaine and Forellanschluss (a.k.a Flashy Trout Back) Cos Varieties. All of these lettuce varieties come from Wild Garden Seed in Oregon. Check out their site and catalog for many details and interesting essays.
  • Calendula; Mix of Zeolights, Flaskback, Maya Orange and our own volunteer variety.
  • Sunflowers Autumn Beauty and various others
  • Carrots; Danvers 126 and Purple Haze (2 weeks)
  • Beets; Three Root Grex, Touchstone Gold, Cylindra and Early Wonder Tall Top
  • Sugar Anne Peas
  • Strawberries
  • Arugula
  • Piracicaba Broccoli; a very delicious side shooting variety. Be sure to enjoy the tender and sweet stalks and leaves!
  • Green King Broccoli; a heading type. These varieties are always a gamble in the spring. We have some small heads forming that should be followed by nice side shoots.
